Busy Week

Man, this has been (and will be) a  busy week. I’m dead tired as there has been late nights and early mornings. Some renovating is being done in the building, and drilling and heavy machinery has started around 7 all week.

Monday: Shopping round 1 for Friday

Tuesday: Shopping round 2 for Friday

Wednesday: Getting tattooed again by Mikael at House of Pain Sthlm. Didn’t take any pictures but will do and upload later when tattoos have healed a bit. Placed on my upper inner arms, so it hurt a lot more than on the outside of the arm. Took about three hours and is still a bit “fleshy” and  red. Shopping round 3 for Friday.

Thursday: Shopping round 4 for Friday. Cooked and baked for about 8 hours. Cleaned a bit.

Friday: Shopping round 5. Other preparations. Final cooking. Big party with mustache theme.

Saturday: My 30th birthday. Cleaning up. Having Cake.

Sunday: Washing. Going to the movies to see Watchmen.

Should I get a Facebook account?

Long have I resisted, long have I clinged on  to the statement  that I don’t need a Facebook account, that I am social enough in other ways. Also, many of my friends are also on Helgon.net, where I have been a member since 2002.

But it feels like everyone has a Facebook account these days.  And apparently a lot of party invitations and just plain contact-keeping is swarming around there. More so than on Helgon, which is becoming more and more stale.

On the back side of the coin, I tend to get addicted to these kind of things. And I don’t want to feel the need to check it several times every day. Especially not at work.

Help me out here, vote in the poll and tell me what you think I should do.

Poll: Should I get a Facebook account?

  • Yes, and I want to be your friend there! (60%, 9 Votes)
  • No (33%, 5 Votes)
  • Yes, but I don't want to be your friend there... (7%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 15

Edit: It seems that to be able to vote, you have to use the frankjohansson.com domain. frankjohansson.se or killersnail.com will not work. If you still cannot vote, please leave a comment so that I can fix it.

Edit2: Now it seems to work with frankjohansson.se but not with frankjohansson.com! Strange. Will have a look at it during the weekend.

Edit 3: Seems that there were conflicts with having multiple domain names using the same IP, which confused the poll code. Or something like that. I have changed the DNS settings for frankjohansson.se and killersnail.com to forward to frankjohansson.com. This should also help my google rank a bit. Anyway, poll should be working now.

Frank’s Spicy Vegetarian Stew

Hi everybody – It’s Sunday cooking time!

Today I made a neat vegetarian dish that I thought I should share. Images are clickable.

This dish is enough to feed 4 grown men with good appetite, which should translate to 6-8 “ordinary” servings. The leftovers (if any) are fine to freeze and just microwave when you are in a hurry/lazy.

Things I would have added if I had any at home:

  • Carrots
  • Mushrooms
  • Chinese water chestnut

Men vs. Women Flowchart: Going out

Call me sexist or whatever, but I found the following flowcharts (originally found on Gizmodo.com) very funny, and I think they held a great deal of truth. What do you think?

By the way, I am starting to have regrets about my New Year’s resolution. The nicotine abstinence I can handle (although I eat a lot more), but I so want to go out and party (in an alcohol-intoxicated state)! I will at least try to stay sober until my 30:th birthday (3 more months), but we’ll see how it goes.

Seven things to do in Iceland

Nomadic Matt’s Travel Site has an excellent post titled Seven Things to Do in Iceland (Why You Should Go Right Now!).

As a group of us are getting together to go there this Easter, this is a nice place to quickly read up on Iceland if you are interested in joining us. Keep in mind that while the tickets and hotels are still very cheap, they tend to run out sooner or later, and you can already see the prices rise on a daily basis.

Worth adding is also Whale Safari, where a large number of different whales are often sighted all around the Icelandic coast.

Iceland – Everything booked

We have now booked flights and hotel rooms for the Easter Iceland trip! 🙂

Everyone that wants are still welcome to join us, but by now you will have to book the flights and hotel yourself.

For us the total price ended at 4288SEK, but you can get it even cheaper depending on how/where you will stay and where you book. We recommend booking everything at travellink.se.

For further details about times and seating, leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.

My New Year’s resolution

Last year my new year’s resolution was to not eat candy or drink soda for a year (with the exception for when being abroad).  I kept it. 🙂

This year it is to not use tobacco or drink alcohol for a year (with the same exception as last year). I will still go out and everything, but try to stay more healthy. And sober. Plus, I need to save as much money as possible for the scheduled tattoos and travels.

Happy new year!

Happy New Year!

Have a drink by the sink,
dance like silly brat.

Be a fool, cos fools rule,
wear a party hat.

Just have fun, jump and run,
like others will do.

Smoke too much, drink too much,
end up in the loo.

I am happy to have spent last year knowing you.
Looking forward to much more, and I hope you do too.

Have a blast, screw the past,
make new moments last!

Once again: Happy New Year!

(I got this from my friend Liv, and just had to share it) 🙂

Do you want to go to Iceland with us?

Hi everybody!

Do you want to join us on a trip to Iceland this Easter?

Due to the economic crisis in Iceland right now the trips there are extremely cheap. You can fly there and back from Stockholm for about 2500SEK, and hotels are not very expensive. And since we will likely go around Easter, you will only need half a day off from work.

The preliminary plan is as follows:

  • 9/4 The afternoon before Good Friday – Flight from Stockholm Arlanda to Reykjavik
  • 10-12/4 Time for Icelandification
  • 13/4 Easter Monday – Going home.

Preliminary budget (per person):

  • Flights (incl. VAT and fees): 2500SEK
  • Hotel: 520-1900SEK depending on standards and location. For 480SEK/night you get a four-star hotel with pool and spa. You can also live in a hostel for about 130SEK/night if you want to.
  • Food: 1500SEK if you eat out and have a few drinks every day.
  • Transports: 500SEK if you want to travel around Iceland a bit.
  • Total: around 4000-6000SEK per person. If we go on Good Friday instead, the price will drop about 1000SEK.

We were thinking that if we are a few people the trip will be even better! That doesn’t mean that we have to stick together all the time unless you want to, and everyone can go about to do what they please.

Does it sounds like fun? Let us know! If the trip happens, we will probably book it in December while the extremely low prices are in effect and the tickets remain. Does it sound interesting but you are uncertain if you want to go or can afford it in four months? Let us know anyway!
